The Football season has arrived

Today we play our first game of the season in the world renowned top flight of the English Premier League.

Our first match is at home to Stoke City at the Madstad, and the weather is currently bright and sunny.

The lure of the premiership has not had such an impact on me this time around, may be due to being a couple of years older than last time we graced the top flight, or even the reality is that football now is too far removed from the fans, they are merely punters who are there for the taking.

My view is slightly cynical because I am a football fan who grew up on the terraces of Elm Park, and like others alike have got embroiled in money is the great diving force. Really how do you compete with the big spenders who operate on debts and losses, few other businesses in this world could survive, excluding banks.

So the season begins in just over 5hrs, and my cynical side will give way to my passion to follow the great Reading F C

My new ticket yet unused, time to pass through the turnstiles with the magic of a card reader, to take my place in the lower West, with a smile on my face and an eagerness to see the beloved Royals take on the Potters, Stoke City FC.

If the match is half as exciting as our inaugural Premiership match at home to Middlesbrough FC then we will be in for a cracker.

The Madstad is a  great stadium and even more so when the seats are full of fans decked out in Blue and White roaring for the Royals and a cry of Urzzzzzzzzzzz.

The media is so great for teams in the Premiership, there are no shortages of feeding the fans all the latest news and gossip.

There will be changes today, both on and off the pitch, and look forward to a great day out, a local lad watching his local side rubbing shoulders and competing with England's finest teams.

There are no rituals to feed, superstition plays a lesser part of my life now, what will be will be, we will end up where we deserve to be.

Last year that was top of the Championship, the best team in the division despite what Saints and 'ammers fans might think.

We enjoyed the celebrations and the memories, lets make some more

Urzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
